UV-CURABLE EPOXIES offer fast cure, low VOC, low shrinkage, no surface tack, and good adhesion. These properties are desirable for many adhesive applications. Different light sources with varied intensities and duration play a large role on how well epoxy adhesives will cure. A particular epoxy with a high adhesion was subject to various conditions. The degree of cure was quantified by measuring Shore hardness and monitoring two adhesion test methods. It was also quantified by measuring the change in functionality via PTIR. Lower intensity condition will require a post thermal treatment to achieve a full cure whereas a very high intensity exposure will cure the epoxy entirely in a few seconds.
