Automating the Grid in a modern Age of Electrification

Automation technology-including microgrids, data analytics and IIoT - is at the heart of a major digital transformation of the aging power grid, which needs to address expanding demand for a more sustainable and efficient energy source. AT more than a century old, the U.S. power grid is creaking under the weight of increased electrification demands, prompting a slow-moving transformation of the aging infrastructure into a digital system powered by state-of-the-art automation technology, Big Data analytics and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).
