Cliffs Natural Resources Inc.'s sale of its interest in the Sonoma coal mine should not be seen as a sign of the company's intent to shy away from the coal business, president Joseph Carrabba said.In July, the company announced it would pass on its 45% economic interest in the Sonoma JV to QCoal Sonoma Pty Ltd for a sum of $141 million.The Queensland asset's production and sales volume totalled 3.5mt and 3.1mt of coal in 2011. Production was split two-thirds thermal and one-third metallurgical coal.
