Exploration success in Malawi was the impetus for Globe Metal and Mining Ltd's recent name change. Formerly called Globe Uranium, the company altered its name after the discovery of a multi-commodity resource in Kanyika, which, according to exploration manager Julian Stephens, had the potential to become a very profitable operation, with at least a 20-year mine life. The primary commodity in Kanyika is niobium, which has had a 20% pa consumption growth over the past five years. The resource has a 2.1km outcropping strike length that is open at depth, and to the north and south.
