Bee venom, propolis or an antibiotic could be powerful treatments to fight COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed health care systems around the world beyond their capacities. "This is the case," writes Dr. Block in her paper, "even though the great majority of infections with COVID-19 are not life threatening and do not require hospitalization." But for some patients, especially the elderly, diabetics, smokers, and individuals with chronic lung disease (among others), the disease can be deadly.That's why it seems reasonable to focus on preventing serious illness in those who are high risk for the life threatening COVID-19 infection. Dr. Janice Block stresses that since both azithromycin and bee-derived products, like propolis, compete againstmechanisms by which COVID-19 could "open the door" to the respiratory system, they seem to be excellent choices in the prevention of COVID-19 in people who are at the greatest risk.
