According to the Japan Textile Evaluation Technology Council(JTETC),the interest in antiviral finished textile products is increasing in Japan.By October 2018,nineteen firms received the”SEK Mark for Antiviral Finished Textile Products”certification for 32 items since this certification started in April 2015.In the background are viral group food poisoning occurring every year and epidemics caused by infectious diseases inside and outside the country. As the damage caused by various species of viruses has recently become a social issue, antiviral finished textile products are manufactured and marketed by a number of textile manufacturers. However, the methods for testing antiviral property differ for each company, and the efficacy is uncertain,so a unified standard was sought.Lead by the Japan Textile Evaluation Technology Council(JTETC),ISO 18184(Determination of Antiviral Activity of Textile Products)was implemented in 2014 as an international standard.
