A softening marketforfeeder cattle, cull cows still trading well below market expectations. Stock cows remain an excellent buy.A large run of feeder cattle in November locally sold at softer prices to previous fall sales. Demand locally has been softer due to lack of marketing of finished cattle. This situation is reflected in Ontario and Quebec as well. Simply put, if finishedcattle are not marketed in a timely fashion, demand for replacement cattle gets tough. When this happens at a time of year when many cow-calf producers want to sell calves, the market can soften in a hurry.
