Tariff Commission starts work on safeguard measures

The Tariff Commission(TC) is launching its formal investigation on whether to apply a long-term safeguard measure on float glass following the government's decision to impose a provisional duty of over P2,500 per metric ton(MT) on such imports.In a notice on Monday,the TC declared it is commencing its formal investigation on the merits of the imposition of a definitive safeguard duty against importations of reflective,tinted and clear float glass.The probe was endorsed by Trade Secretary Ramon M.Lopez,whose agency issued a safeguard duty on float glass on July 22,2019.
