Shell explains baltic LnG exit

Shell withdrew from Russian state-controlled Gazprom’s Baltic LNG project in April when the scope of the development expanded beyond the original plans, Shell Russia chairman Cederic Cremers said in St Petersburg on 24 June. The companies had discussed building a 10mn-15mn t/yr LNG plant near Ust-Luga port, utilising Shell’s dual mixed refrigerant (DMR) liquefaction technology - a plan that was technically and economically viable, as well as attractive for inves- tors, Cremers said.
