US gas prices fall on warm spell

?US gas futures fell in December as milder weather arrived at the end of the month and production remained high. Nymex prompt-month natural gas prices at the end of 2019 settled at $2.189/mn Btu, down by 9.2c/mn Btu, or 4pc, compared with the end of November. Prices rallied to a settlement high of $2.441/mn Btu last month, but surrendered those gains as the month progressed, milder weather was forecast and demand fell away during the Christmas holiday period. Prices were initially buoyed during the month by large draws from gas storage, an increase in LNG exports and colder weather.
