ExxonMobil refuses png terms for Lng expansion

The Papua New Guinea (PNG) government says it is disappointed with the prog- ress of its talks with partners in the 6.9mn t/yr PNG LNG venture over a third production train after operator ExxonMobil refused the terms proposed. PNG’s State Negotiating Team (SNT) has carried out extensive preparatory work to draft terms that are in line with international standards and that ensure a good deal for the people of PNG, energy minister Kerenga Kua says. “It is disap- pointing Exxon has refused to even consider these terms and we urge them to reconsider their position,” Kua says.
