Inpex commits to expand Abadi project

Japanese upstream firm Inpex is starting preliminary engineering and design work at Indonesia's Abadi LNG project, where target capacity has been increased to 9.5mn t/yr at an onshore facility. Abadi LNG, 65pc-owned by operator Inpex and 35pc by Shell, was originally planned as a 2.5mn t/yr floating LNG project fed by gas from the offshore Masela block with start-up targeted for 2018.
