Gate expects rapid growth in LNG bunkering

The operator of the Gate LNG terminal at the Dutch port of Rotterdam expects a rapid increase in LNG bunkering activities in the coming years. Gate’s LNG sales for the bunkering market could reach 1mn t/yr by 2022, commercial manager Stefaan Adriaens says. Sales are estimated at about 10,000t last year — after totalling just 5,190t in the frst nine months of 2018 — and could accelerate further in the coming months, to 100,000t this year and 300,000t in 2020, Adriaens says.
