US gas prices retreat

?US gas futures fell in May on mild weather and large injections into storage. Prompt-month gas prices settled at $2.454/mn Btu on 31 May, down by 12.1c/mn Btu, or 4.7pc, since 30 April. Prices peaked on 20 May, settling at $2.673/mn Btu, on forecasts showing an increase in cooling demand, but prices retreated from those levels as temperatures moderated and inventories rose.
