Equinor sees tighter LNG market in 2020s

Strong global gas demand growth will absorb additional LNG supplies in the early 2020s, but Europe will still act as a demand sink over some periods, helping to meet its increasing import dependency, Norwegian state-controlled Equinor says. Europe’s import dependency will rise in the early 2020s, despite stable demand, because of declining production in the UK, the Netherlands and Den- mark, Equinor says in its Energy Perspectives outlook. Higher import demand will be met by stronger Russian pipeline and LNG imports, although Europe’s regasif- cation capacity will not be tested, Equinor says.
