Quadrivalent HPV vaccine reduced risk for HPV infection and related disease in women 24 to 45 years of age

The study by Munoz and colleagues addresses the prevention of infection and disease in older women, who have a higher likelihood of previous exposure to HPV types contained in available vaccines. Women who were 24 to 45 years of age participated in the trial, only 0.1% of whom had not engaged in sexual intercourse before enrollment. Previous studies of this quadrivalent vaccine showed efficacy in prevention of primary infection and disease in women without baseline evidence of infection
