Russia appeals WTO decision on EU gas dispute

Russia has filed an appeal seeking to overturn some of the World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) rulings on the EU’s third package of energy market reforms. Moscow disputes decisions made “not in favour to Russia”, the economic development ministry says. Russia initiated the dispute in May 2014, alleging that EU gas market rules, such as those requiring unbundling and third-party access, are “inconsistent” with the EU’s WTO commitments.
