Shakespeare once wrote: "As in a theatre, the eyes of men/After a well-graced actor leaves the stage/Are idly bent on him that enters next." Following Maryann Gorman in the position of editor in chief of Standardization News is indeed a hard act to follow. For two decades, she has been the face of this magazine, and in the short time I've known her, she has been a great mentor as well. I join my colleagues in wishing her all the best for a happy retirement.
