South Korea's SK Innovation has made an oil discovery in Block 17/03 in the Pearl River Mouth Basin in the South China Sea (SCS). The find will be SK innovation's first discovery in the area since its decision to move ahead with its plans to explore in the SCS. The operator signed a Production Sharing Contract (PSC) for Block 17/03 in February 2015. Since then the com-pany has undertaken geological and geophysical surveys and in December 2017 SK drilled its first exploration well.
