Effect of aldosterone antagonists on common carotid artery's intima-media thickness, stiffness indices and flow mediated vasodilatation of brachial artery in CAD patients

Highlights ? Spironolactone and eplerenone, both were effective in reducing blood pressure. ? Both treatments reduced levels of inflammatory markers (hsCRP and TNF-α). ? Both were not effective in improving endothelial function. ? Both treatments did not reduce progression of carotid IMT and stiffness indices. ? Eplerenone was not found more effective than spironolactone or vice-versa .
