Freight rates from smaller Russian ports fall

Freight rates from the Russian ports of Kaliningrad, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk to northwest Europe fell at the start of April compared with a month earlier. The reduction mainly refects lower prices for 0.1pc sulphur bunker fuel. The Baltnafta terminal at Svetly in the Kaliningrad region loaded three car- goes — 45,600t in total — of gas condensate distillate for shipment to ports in the Netherlands by Shell on the Bro Nakskov, the Arsland and the Sloman Helios. And a 15,000t gasoline cargo was loaded for shipment to Amsterdam by BP on the Sten Aurora. Three more gas condensate distillate cargoes of the same size are due to load for Shell this month, as well as another 15,000t gasoline cargo for BP, according to sources familiar with operations at the terminal.
