Rail tarif debate heating up

State-owned Russian Railways (RZD) plans to stick with its controversial tarif policy, despite protests from the country’s river shippers. A combination of measures in place to boost revenue from export shipments, including discounts to boost oil trafc on specifc domestic rail routes, are part of RZD’s draft long-term development programme to 2025, general director Oleg Belozerov says.
