Tankcar lease rates ease

Oil tankcar lease rates fell slightly on the month to Rbs700-750/d ($11-11.90/d) in June. The market was relatively quiet after rebounding in May, as market partici- pants awaited tankcar-lease tender results from Rosneft and Gazprom. Rosneft subsidiary RN-Trans accepted ofers last month for the lease of 10,000 tankcars for fve years from September, although the results are yet to be released ofcially. Some rolling stock may be freed up this autumn once crude deliveries by pipeline to Rosneft’s far east 120,000 b/d Komsomolsk refnery begin. A spur from the Transneft system has been completed, but start-up was pushed back to September from July for technical reasons, a source familiar with the situation says.
