The cost of seaborne products transport to northwest Europe from Russia's Baltic and far north ports increased in February, because of a seasonal rise in timecharter rates and higher bunker fuel prices. Ice restrictions were tightened at the Arctic White Sea port of Arkhangelsk from 25 January - all vessels navigating in Arkhangelsk waters must now be at least Ice2 class, according to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping classification. Ice1 class tankers were allowed to navigate without icebreaker support from 1 December.
