Rail shipments of crude for export from Russia fell by 18pc against August on a daily average basis to a record-low 121,200t (29,300 b/d) last month, after Rosneft halted deliveries to China. Rosneft had been supplying Chinese independent refiner Baota Petrochemical through Russian pipeline operator Transneft’s Meget loading terminal in Irkutsk, where crude is transferred to railcars from the pipeline system. Rosneft shipped 23,700t on this route in August and 31,300t in July, freight forwarding companies say. Baota’s purchases were through an unnamed Switzerland-registered trading company, market participants say.
