Druzhba refiners look to Adriatic

Refiners in central Europe are looking to seaborne supplies from the Mediterranean market in a bid to further diversify supply away from Urals delivered from Russia through the Druzhba pipeline system. Hungarian integrated oil firm Mol aims to take 19-25 cargoes, or 1.5mn-2mn t (30,000-40,000 b/d), of seaborne crude using the 320,000 b/d Adria pipeline through Croatia this year, up from last year’s 17 cargoes, or 1.36mn t. It hopes to boost the share of seaborne crude in the total combined intake of its Hungarian, Slovak and Croatian refineries to 33pc in 2020 from around 25pc last year. The share was just 3pc in 2011.
