Far east helium supplies take shape

East Siberia-based upstream firm Irkutsk Oil plans to begin commercial production and exports of liquid helium from Russian far east terminals to Asia-Pacific markets next year.And Gazprom aims to do the same from 2021-22.Irkutsk Oil aims to start up a 7.5mn m~3/yr(10mn litres/yr)helium plant at its Yaraktinskoye condensate field by the end of next year.Germany utility and trading company Uniper will buy a"portion"of liquid helium output from the Ust-Kut plant,in the Irkutsk region,under a long-term agreement.Uniper operates on global wholesale markets for liquid and gaseous helium-selling under term contracts and on a spot basis.
