Memorial day holiday fails to boost gasoline prices

The 27 May Memorial Day holiday, which marks the start of the US driving season, failed to spark a rise in gasoline prices, as demand for gasoline and diesel were considerably lower than at the same time last year. Gulf coast gasoline stocks rose by 510,000 bl to 83.5mn bl in the week ended 17 May, as imports increased. But gasoline output fell by 44,000 b/d to just under 2.3mn b/d - still more than 150,000 b/d higher than a year ago. Conventional 87 Ron prices eased by less than 1c/USG to $1.95/USG in the eight days to 28 May.
