Colombia has launched a rolling programme of upstream auctions in a bid to revive investment and boost the country’s stagnant reserves base. Oil regulator ANH has identifed 18 onshore and two ofshore oil blocks that will be put up for tender, but the process is open to any area on a map of available acreage. The initial ofering comprises 13 blocks in the eastern Llanos basin, fve in the Magdalena valley and two in the Caribbean ofshore. A data room was opened on 23 February. The onshore acreage could yield 1bn bl of crude and 3 trillion ft~3 (84bn m~3) of gas reserves, ANH president Luis Miguel Morelli says, and the 20 blocks represent a potential $600mn in investment. “We expect to start signing contracts during the frst week of July,” Morelli says. All 20 should be signed by December.
