Spot grain barge rates slipped last week, while fertilizer rates were stable amid limited demand that is expected to persist through the end of the year. Barge demand is softening now that the primary autumn shipping season has ended. The final tow of the navigation season departed St Paul, Minnesota, for New Orleans, Louisiana, on 28 November, ac- cording to the US Army Corps of Engineers.
