Indian utility supply boost to cut coal imports

India will boost domestic coal supplies to utilities, which arestruggling with low stocks and facing increased power demandthis summer, which may affect rising imports.State-controlled producer Coal India (CIL) has increasedshipments this month by 8pc from a year earlier to around1.8mn t/d, a company official said. CIL also plans to boostproduction to an average 2.5mn t/d for the rest of this monthfrom an average 2mn t/d.
