BLM advances plan to lift coal lease moratorium

The Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is moving forward with plans to lift the moratorium on processing new coal lease applications. The agency finalized an environmental analysis and finding that there would be “no significant impact” from resuming the program, which was paused in January 2016 under the administration of former president Barack Obama.
