Miners attempting to stop Blackjewel from moving coal from its Harlan County mine complex are ending a nearly two-month train blockade. “The guys that were protesting naturally had to get new jobs,” said Charles Raleigh, the mayor of Cumberland, Kentucky, which is about two miles from the Harlan County complex. “The people available to protest dwindled down to just a few.”
