Weekly south african coal spot prices rise

High-grade South African spot prices extended two consecu- tive weeks of gains as Indian buying interest has held steady, although daily assessments eased later in the week. Argus assessed the weekly fob Richards Bay (RB) spot mar- ket at $63.98/metric tonne, up by $1.87/t on the week. Daily prices peaked this week at $67.19/t fob RB on 11 June, when a July-loading cargo traded at $67.25/t — around a 25￠/t premium to swaps and the highest assessment-relevant deal since 9 May. But the spot market stumbled to $62.32/t the following day.
