Arch chief executive to retire

Arch Coal chief executive John Eaves will step aside on 30 April and become executive chairman of the company's board of directors. Company chief operating officer Paul Lang will succeed Eaves as chief executive, Arch said today. James Chapman, Arch’s current executive chairman, will continue to serve on the board as an independent director.
