South Korea’s Kowepo seeks unused woody biomass

South Korean state-owned utility Korea Western Power (Kowepo) has issued a tender to buy 10,000t of unused woody biomass to co-fre at its 4GW Taean thermal power plant. Kowepo is seeking the fuel for deliveries from mid-March to August, according to its tender issued on 5 March. The unused woody biomass — woody forest biomass in South Korea that would otherwise not be used in any industrial function — must have a minimum net calorifc value of 4,000 kcal/kg, maximum sulphur of 0.05pc, maximum nitrogen content of 0.7pc and maximum ash of 3pc. The utility is seeking the fuel for delivery at a rate of 75-250 t/d over the specifed period.
