EIA revises 2019, 2020 US biomass outlook

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) has revised its expectations for future wood biomass consumption in the US, but still indicates a decline in consumption for 2019 and 2020. US demand of wood biomass for energy across all sectors is projected to decline by 3.8pc to 2.27 quadrillion Btu (2.27bn mn Btu) in 2019 before falling by 4.4pc to 2.17 quadrillion Btu in 2020. The EIA revised its projected fgures in December, lifting expected wood biomass consumption for 2019 and 2020 from its November outlook, but both years continue to project annual declines.
