Poland's biomass-fred power generation weakened in May after a strong start to the year. The decline is the result of maintenance at one large plant and probably temporary. Dedicated biomass power generation fell by 11pc on the year to 297GWh in May, according to fgures released by Warsaw-based frm ARE, which monitors electricity generation in Poland. But a strong increase in dedicated biomass generation in the frst few months of the year meant that overall generation reached 1.75TWh in January- May - a near 23pc increase on the year.
