Ireland targets 12GW renewable additions by 2030

Ireland has set a target of having 70pc renewable electricity by 2030, which will require an additional 12GW of renewable capacity additions. Reaching 70pc renewable electricity by 2030 will require additions of around 3.5GW of ofshore wind capacity, up to 8.2GW onshore wind and up to 1.5GW grid scale solar, the government said in the climate action plan for 2019, which was released yesterday evening. Renewables accounted for 30pc of demand in 2017.
