London-listed biomass producer Active Energy (AEG) has entered a joint venture agreement with Polish company Cobant to market a new coal product to the country’s coal- fred power plants, AEG said. The joint venture was signed following recent testing of AEG’s CoalSwitch fuel mixed with reclaimed coal from slurry dumps in Upper Silesia, Poland. AEG plans to roll out the product to coal-fred plants and for household use, initially in Poland. There may be opportunities elsewhere in Europe where there is residual coal waste, AEG said.
