Drax biomass burn unaffected by CO2 capture test

UK utility Drax’s plan to test carbon capture technology at one of its 645MW biomass-fired units will not affect its biomass consumption. The firm will begin testing the technology this month on the flue gas outlet of one of the units at its 3.9GW power plant in Selby. But the plan will not “prevent or impede [biomass-fired] power generation”, as the flue gases are released post-combustion, it said.
