Kyushu to build small-scale biomass power unit

Japanese utility Kyushu Electric Power plans to build a 5.7MW wood biomass-fired power generation plant in Fukuoka prefecture on the northern part of Kyushu island. Kyuden Mirai Energy, a wholly owned renewable power developing subsidiary of Kyushu, has started site preparation, and expects to begin construction in December this year and commissioning in April 2020. Total costs are estimated at around ￥3.5bn ($31mn).
