USDA offers $2mn to convert biorefineries

The US Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for up to $2mn in reimbursements for biorefineries to upgrade generators to run on biomass instead of fossil fuels. Funding under the Repowering Assistance Program is determined by the percentage reduction in the use of fossil fuel, the quantity of fossil fuels replaced by biomass, and cost effectiveness, among other criteria. The agency will pay for up to 50pc of the costs of upgrading the facility.
