The price for industrial wood pellets loading in the next 90 days rose 74￠/t to $134.14/t fob Vietnam on Wednesday. No fresh demand was heard from the South Korean utility market this week, but several traders expect Koen to issue a spot tender soon to support near-term biomass co-firing operations at its Samcheonpo coal-fired power plant. The Samcheonpo facility is currently burning wood pellets secured from delayed deliveries meant for last year's fourth quarter, sources said, but the volume was thought to be only enough to support co-firing operations until February.
