Philippines projects domestic biomass growth

Demand for biomass fuel in the Philippines’ power generation market is projected to grow by 4.4pc/yr from now until 2030 if planned ventures stay on track. There were 51 biomass projects awarded under the country’s feed-in tariff (FiT) scheme as of 30 June, with a combined capacity of over 700MW. A further 13 projects with capacity totalling 172MW are still pending FiT approval, according to the Department of Energy. Most of these projects are designed to convert bagasse and rice husks into energy.
