UK biomass plant to proceed without subsidy

UK firm Orthios will go ahead with its plan to construct a 299MW biomass-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Anglesey, Wales, despite failing to secure a contract for difference (CFD) subsidy in the latest auction, it said. Orthius had planned to build five units with a combined power generation capacity of 299MW, but is considering commissioning a lower capacity because of commercial factors, it said.
