Polish state-controlled utility Enea has overtaken another state-run generator, Tauron, to become the second-largest electricity producer in Poland. Enea’s rise comes after it acquired the 1.75GW Polaniec coal and biomass-fred plant from French company Engie. The 1.26bn zloty ($315mn) deal was completed this week. The purchase established Enea as the largest producer of biomass-fred electricity in Poland after it took control of the 230MW biomass-fred unit at Polaniec.
