Nippon Paper scraps Akita biomass power project

Japan’s Nippon Paper Industries has scrapped a planned biomass power generation plant in Akita prefecture after rising construction and fuel costs reduced its forecast profi tability. Diffi culties securing long-term supplies of wood pellets at a reasonable price contributed to the cancellation, the company said.
