The Argus cif northwest Europe (NWE) index for industrial wood pellets delivered in the next 90 days declined by $1.76/t on the week to $183.10/t on scant spot demand. European utilities remained well covered for at least the remainder of the third quarter. The spot window now reaches to 15 October, when early fourth-quarter demand could lift the spot price in the coming weeks. But buyers were “relaxed” about the fourth quarter, several market participants said and there were little to no buying enquiries for the quarter in the week.
