Prices for industrial Vietnamese wood pellets loading in the next 90-days fell by $1/t on the week to $107.55/t fob Vietnam on Wednesday, as some sellers reduced their offers in an effort to shift supply ahead of changes to South Korea’s wood pellet standards. The new standard is expected to include a higher net calorific value equal to or larger than 3,940 kcal/kg – posing a challenge to some Vietnamese suppliers. Producers that are unable to produce pellets that meet the expected new standard lowered their offers in the week to shift wood pellet inventories before the new standard is imposed, South Korean traders said.
